In The Word
Hey RCC Family!
In just a few days, 2021 will be ending and 2022 will be beginning. In the midst of your reflections on the past year and planning on the upcoming year, we want to encourage you to be “In the Word” in 2022. The Psalmist described God’s word in ways that showed the daily need for it. He wrote, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Ps 119:105). We need God’s word to get where God wants us to go next year. Jesus showed the importance for God’s word for God’s people when he prayed, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth” (Jn. 17:17). And the Apostle Paul emphasized the importance of understanding all of God’s word as a personal and profitable word from God, when he wrote, “ All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
Redemption City Church is a church that is “In the Word.” And we’d love for you to join us! Below you’ll see and be able to download our reading plan. It is a time tested plan that was created by Robert Murray M’Cheyne, one of Pastor Jed’s heroes. M’Cheyne, a pastor in the 1800s in Scotland, had a heart set deeply on pursuing and knowing God’s Word. He also had a heart for his congregation to see and experience the Bible personally, as a family, and as a local church.
In 1842, M’Cheyne wrote a reading plan called Daily Bread. This plan gives a clear and systematic way of reading your Bible every day. M’Cheyne’s plan gives us a digestible average of four Scripture chapters per day over the full year. As a result, in just a year, you and your family will be able to read through the Old Testament once, the Psalms twice, and the New Testament twice.
As we step into the blessing of a brand-new year, let’s continue to press into God’s Word as we seek to continue to make disciples, train leaders, and feed the hungry as a church family. What might God do in your life if you spent time with Him in the Bible each day this year? How might your life be different? We believe that God works most powerfully through his word.
Join us as we get “In the Word” this next year! If you have any questions along the way, please email them to info@redemptioncity.com and we’ll get back to you asap. Can’t wait to see what God does this year as we get “In the Word”!
