Meet RCC’s New Worship Pastor
Over the past seven years, God has grown RCC from a few families to around 400 people on a typical pre-COVID-19 Sunday. Over the past several months, we continue to be blown away by God’s faithfulness to our church as we have seen multiple people baptized, a record number of first time guests, and many people jumping in to serve on a ministry team. During this time, our staff, elders, and many leaders have been specifically praying for several open staffing roles to be filled inside our church.
The past three months, we have reviewed dozens of applications from all over the country, spent countless hours interviewing candidates and following up with references, and have prayed for God to give us wisdom on who He has for our church to fill these roles.
Well, today is a big day in the life of our church! We are so excited to announce that our staff and elder team believe God has provided us with the Worship and Communications Pastor we have been praying and fasting for! His name is Micah Christopher, and he will be starting Sunday, January 3!
Micah has a deep love for Jesus and His word. He desires to see God’s people engage in deep community and write songs out of what God is doing in the local church. As our team has gotten to know Micah and talked with many who know him, it’s very obvious that Micah is an extremely talented musician with a pastor’s heart. Micah’s heart for people and ability to build ministry teams that feel like family was one of the many qualities that made him rise to the top of the many candidates that we interviewed.
Micah brings over 10 years of church staff experience from serving on two different church staffs in the worship, creative, communication, and student ministries. As we have talked to those who have served alongside Micah, they’ve raved about his ability to spin many plates while keeping a high level of excellence in all that he does. People who have worked with Micah talk about how he builds systems and structures to care for people, not just to advance the mission.
Micah and his family moved to the Nashville area a little over a year ago to pursue music. Over the past year, God made it very evident to them and to us that his calling was not just to pursue music but to lead worship as well. Micah was recommended to us by a trusted ministry leader in November after we made our Worship and Communications Pastor search public. Since that time, Micah has gone through multiple interviews with our staff and our elders. We are so excited to welcome him to the RCC Family.
Micah is married to Jill, and they have 3 kids, Adelaide, Kingston, and Ledger. Micah and Jill grew up in Missouri and met in elementary school. While they grew up together, it wasn’t until college that they started dating and then were married. Micah and Jill love to be outside with their family camping and fishing. You might even find Micah on his bike as he loves to cycle. We really can’t wait for you to meet this amazing family!
As Micah and his family join the RCC family, please join us in praying for them and asking God to do two things: that He’ll make the transition smooth and encouraging for their family, and that God will bless his efforts at RCC this first 6 months (and well beyond).
