Here at RCC, we have a four step process for becoming a member. Most people who have never gone through a process like this might be intimidated by it. But we promise it’s not scary! Read below to learn more about each step.
Attend an RCC DNA class
If you want to have a relationship with someone, you have to get to know them. It’s the same with our church. You have to understand who the church is, why they exist, what they’re passionate about and more–in order to better understand whether or not you might want a more serious relationship with the church. RCC DNA is a great way to meet us and hear about our heart, vision, and mission.
Fill Out an RCC Membership Application
Being a part of the local church in the New Testament was a big deal. It meant something to them. In fact, it often meant persecution for them. While we hope this doesn’t happen, we do want to continue the tradition of making membership meaningful. Since the church is for people who confess Jesus to be their personal Savior, Lord, and Treasure, we want to hear a brief description of a potential member’s understanding of their relationship with God and the gospel. This isn’t a seminary class and doesn’t involve a theological test. It’s just a simple form that shows that you rightly understand the gospel. This allows us to help bring clarity to what the gospel is or isn’t. We don’t want people to be confused on the most important news in the world, right? Part of the application process also includes signing the RCC covenant. While a confession is what we believe, the covenant is what we do. Signing the covenant shows that a person is committed to doing what RCC exists to do.
Talk with an RCC Pastor
This brief conversation ensures that every person gets a one-on-one touch with someone that is a part of RCC. These conversations usually include a celebration of the grace of God in the person’s life and space for the person to ask any questions they might have.
Be Affirmed at an RCC Members Meeting
Being affirmed by the members of RCC is the final step to becoming a member at Redemption City. At a members meeting, the applicants are presented by the leadership of the church and a final vote is taken. This is meant to be a joyous and meaningful occasion, a time of celebration for adding another member to our RCC family!
