At Redemption City Church we believe the Bible calls Christian parents to be the primary disciple makers in their homes. This is a huge role given to parents and we want to partner with you to see you and your student flourish to be all that God has called you to be. Here are 4 steps to making disciples of your teenagers:
- Read the Bible Together- At Redemption City we have a Bible Reading Plan we created for you. It has Bible passages to read every day and we recommend this or a similar plan with your teenager.
- Point Them to Jesus- Talk with your teenager about how the Scripture you read points to the hero of the Bible: Jesus. Scripture is telling a story and Jesus is the main character. We need to raise a generation of Biblically literate students.
- Clarify the Next Step- Every day write down an action step from your time in the Word together. For example, if the text is about forgiveness, write down that you need to forgive someone who has wronged you or ask for forgiveness of someone you have wronged. Then talk about that action and hold each other accountable. They need to see the way Scripture transforms your life. You are the largest influence in their life!
- Reflect on God’s Grace- Ask them to share one good thing you can praise God for in their life as well as one hard thing they need prayer for. Do the same with them about what is happening in your life. They need to see you are not perfect, but that God is in the process of shaping you into the image of Jesus.
